This is not fixed in IE8. Furthermore, IE as a family of browsers is complete garbage. Ask any developer whose job it is to develop cross-browser web applications and he/she will likely agree. From small annoyances like insisting on using non-mainstream DOM syntax to moderate ones like this bug (which has apparently made it through several major version releases) to much larger security issues, Microsoft simply cannot put together a decent browser. Not to mention, this crap browser comes with their crap search engine (Bing) integrated into it. Luckily, you can remove it and dodge that bullet. It is for these reasons, and countless others, that IE has lost its dominance over the market and is steadily declining.

Please stop using IE - it's for the greater good.

Internet Explorer 8 is very good because it is as stable as Opera. I hate the previous versions of IE like IE6 because it hangs frequently. `

Had the same problem. Popup blocker jammed in on position though it said off everywhere, no dropdowns etc. Reinstalling IE7 fixed all problems. I probably contracted the corruption when upgrading to IE8 and downgrading back to IE7. Yet another great feature of Microscam's Internet Destroyer.
